After I had a baby last December my pastor’s wife (Hi, Missy!) texted that she had made us some cookies and wanted to drop them by. I was excited, because I like cookies. You guys. These were NOT just cookies.These were the best chocolate chip cookies I had ever tasted. Ever. I ate the full dozen in less than 24 hours. I think my husband had one. So, obviously, I asked her for the recipe.
Ingredients:
2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 package instant vanilla pudding mix
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 large eggs
1 package milk chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375°.
- Combine flour, baking soda, salt, and vanilla pudding mix in a small bowl. In a large bowl, beat butter, shortening, sugars and vanilla until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after adding each. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop by rounded spoonful onto ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheet for 1-2 minutes then move to wire cooling rack.
- Try not to eat them all in one sitting.
If you aren’t too concerned about raw eggs, the dough for these cookies is incredible. And the dough freezes really well, if you only want to bake a few at a time.

Welcome Tara! First of all, these cookies sound delicious. Secondly, I have never even considered freezing dough! I usually bake all the cookies and then freeze the cookies. Hypothetically that would keep me from eating them. But, you know, a few seconds in the microwave and I'm eating the rest of them anyway. Freezing dough would probably be a better plan.
