First of all, thank you guys for all the easy-bake dessert recipes! I wanted to make one of everything, but in then end, ended up making the Oreo Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Truffles that Natalie suggested because I had almost all the ingredients in my pantry already. (The only thing I didn't have was the Oreos and now -- oh darn-it -- I have more than half a pack leftover. Shoot!)
You guys. These Oreo truffles ARE AWESOME. They basically taste like mini Reese's peanut butter cups and they are easy and absolutely no-bake, which is perfect for me. The recipe calls for half-and-half, but Natalie mentions you can substitute milk, which I did (and I used non-fat milk at that, and the truffles still turned out perfectly). I also only ever have all-natural peanut butter in my house, so I was a little worried the truffles wouldn't be sweet enough, but they were.
I also made the turtle candies I told you about last week and figured out one standard 10-ounce sized bag of pretzels, two bags of Rolos and one packet of whole shelled pecans yields just about 100 turtle candies. (Anyone want any turtle candies? I have a few to give away!)
Finally, I made what my grandma calls matzo roca. Here's a recipe for the same thing from Smitten Kitchen, who calls her matzo roca Chocolate Caramel Crack(ers), for, as she puts it, "The addictive nature of this stuff." I eat mine straight out of the freezer, but it's great refrigerated or even munched on at room-temperature.
Thank you again for all the recipes! I'm so happy to have a few new (easy!) recipes in my arsenal.
