I have a collection of Sothern Living cookbooks (their annual ones published each year), that I swear by. There's a King Cake recipe I've used for years, and everyone loves it.

I also just bought The Smitten Kitchen cookbook, because I absolutely and completely love the site, and it translates so well onto paper.

I am a cookbook addict, but I agree! It's so much easier to find something you'd like to cook with a book in your hands, rather than the internet. I often feel overwhelmed by the net's supply of recipes.

That said - I've been weeding out some of the non-vegetarian books I have, as they just sit there. I have all but one of Dreena Burton's cookbooks (they are all vegan and never fail). They are the ones I use most often and they are easy to de-veganize if need be. I have Super Natural Everyday from Heidi Swanson of 101 Cookbooks and a random smattering of other books. Vij's cookbooks are great (non-vegetarian, but delicious Indian recipes, if a bit lengthy/ingredient intensive).

I have ALWAYS wanted the Bittman book you have, just have yet to invest in it! Pictures are a must for me. I'm very visual. (probably why I love Pinterest)

Thanks for the recommendations! Darcy, I'm so glad you mentioned the Smitten Kitchen cookbook- I don't know if I can wait until Christmas for it!
