I'm not the biggest fan of my home/current town, but by the end of this post you'll understand why Oklahomans are some of the fattest people in the country. We eat really well.
For breakfast in Norman, I recommend The Diner. Featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, the Diner is a staple in Norman. Hardly ever can you get in and just sit down; there’s almost always a wait. My husband and I got to go on a rare weekday he had off work, and had a delicious brunch. I ordered the Eggaritto,
and Jim got the “Kitchen Sink”, a chef’s choice omelet.

For lunch, head to the University of Oklahoma’s campus and go to Greek House. The child’s plate gives you PLENTY of food, by way of gyro meat, salad, fries, and feta (you can ask for pita, but I prefer without). It’s amazingly delicious. Only downsides to Greek House: they only take cash or checks (come on, it’s 2012!), and you’ll smell like Greek House all day if you go, even just to pick up takeout.

For an afternoon drink stop, might I suggest Classic 50s? It’s a Sonic-esque drive-in, and Happy Hour is from 2-5 each day. Jumbo Diet Dr. Pepper with vanilla is my favorite!

At dinner time head back to campus (or stay there all day because it’s a beautiful place) and go to New York Pizza and Pasta. Kid-friendly, affordable, and fast, it’s a delicious place to get all sorts of Italian fare. Last time we went Jim got the Italian sandwich,
and I got a pepperoni and sausage Stromboli.

For after-dinner drinks I recommend The Mont, a semi-famous staple in Norman (semi-famous because it’s where famous visitors are sometimes spotted (my mom saw Helen Hunt there when they were filming “Twister” locally!), but some locals and visitors never go). I prefer the Swirl, with salt on the rim, but hear the piña coladas and margaritas are just as delicious. If you need a snack with your drink, the chips and queso are great, and the spinach-artichoke dip is awesome (the fries are good, too!).

There’s not a lot to do in Norman, unless you’re here for a Sooner football game (BOOMER SOONER!), but since we have the best NBA team in the west, you might find a reason to come to the area. I’d be happy to take you out on the town for food and drinks!

Well, now I'm hungry. And a little bit homesick.
