I'm sure I've mentioned before that I took a cake decorating class a couple years ago. It was lots of fun, and for a while my cake decorating skills were pretty good. However, I don't make cakes all that often so my skills have definitely deteriorated. My brother's birthday was last week and he requested white cake with raspberry filling and whipped icing. I'd seen a picture of a cake like that in one of my decorating books so I set out to recreate it. The end product looked...okay.
Here's the cake in question. Yummy, but not so much beautiful.
I suppose practice makes perfect, so if I want to get any better at this I'd better start making cake a lot more often!
Do you have any kitchen skills that you lose if you don't practice? Do you want to start meeting up with me to have cake every week so I can practice mine?
