Serving ice cream to a group can get kind of messy. There's a sweet spot when the ice cream is soft enough to scoop, but not yet too melty, and if you're dishing it up for a crowd and taking several minutes to go through a half gallon? Some people will end up with soupy scoops. It's just the way it goes.
No need for that very sad ice cream situation any more, my friends.
Get a muffin tin. Cut some generous squares of wax paper and place them over the indentations. Scoop ice cream, place one scoop in each muffin spot, stick the whole thing in the freezer. When they've re-frozen really well, stick them all in a Ziploc, wax paper and all. Repeat for as many scoops as you need.
(Cupcake papers have been used in this photo, but I VASTLY prefer wax paper since it peels right off.)
When it's party time? Simply open the bag, drop the scoops onto plates or bowls, peel the wax paper off and TA DA. Everyone gets a perfectly frozen portion of ice cream and you don't even have drips on the countertop to clean.
