An Alternative to Beer: Cider

I recently had a revelation. I don’t like beer. Yes, I’ll drink it, but I don’t really enjoy the experience. I think peer pressure was previously responsible for my choosing beer over any other kind of beverage, but now that I’m almost 35 I think I’m mature enough to just say no and drink whatever the heck I want. 

I do, however, appreciate how refreshing a cold beer can be on a hot day, and I also love drinking straight from a bottle. There’s something so laid back about not bothering with a glass. So, might I suggest hard cider instead?  There really are quite a few delicious options out there these days, and more and more bars have it available on tap.  And, did you know hard cider is produced all over the world? Apparently, American ciders vary in style from serious dry versions and ice-wine styles while French ciders tend to be light, subtle, and lower in alcohol content than English ciders, which are often bolder in flavor (information courtesy of www.esquire.com).

Try the Woodchuck Pear... tasty

I discovered cider during a trip to London after trying all different beers and not loving any of them. Woodchuck Pear is my fave and they also do a peach flavor that's nice.

I am a big fan of ciders because I hate beer as well. My favorite is Ace Pear. Very tasty and different from apple based ciders.

I love cider and it is also my preference over beer. I usually favor Woodchuck and while I have tried a few others I usually end up back there. To those who don't understand my love of cider I tell them it's like apple juice for grown-ups, oh so yummy.
