Friday Cocktail Hour: Jim Beam Red Stag

I am not a big drinker. I have a limited number of drinks I can order and actually know the ingredients. I tend to stick to wine and the occasional margarita. But my husband aspires to be an amateur bartender, and because it is so insanely difficult to buy gifts for him, he ends up with a lot of booze for his birthday and at Christmas. This year, one of the bottles he acquired was Jim Bean Red Stag Black Cherry Bourbon.

Folks, this is some good stuff. Straight or on the rocks, it is incredibly smooth with just the right sweetness and warmth. And it’ll make the most amazing adult-style cherry cola you could ever want. If regular bourbons are have too much bite or bitterness, this is a great alternative.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I believe my personal barkeep needs to fix me a cocktail.

I LOVE this stuff! I actually bought a bottle to make bourbon chicken with and thought the cherry flavor might add to it. It does and the drink is fantastic as well.
