Festive Peppermintini
By Leslie
This weekend we attended a friend's holiday party and the hostess was making peppermintinis for everyone who walked in the door. I was hestitant at first, because normally these drinks consist of half-and-half cream. If I'm going to drink my calories, they better be worth it, so I usually stear clear of "dessert" martinis. HOWEVER, my friend and oh-so-smart hostess was thinking the same thing. She came up with something delicious, minus the heavy dessert element. I'm not claiming these to be health-food by any means, but definitely a great alternative.
It's very easy. Almost too easy. Don't say I didn't warn you!
One part of each:
Vanilla vodka
Godiva white chocolate liqueur
Peppermint Schnapps
Pour over ice in a glass, or strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a mini candy cane. Yum!

Gingerbread Martini
By A'Dell
I test-drove this recipe a few nights ago and it really surprised me with how it was sweet and cocktail-like, but very, very different from what I normally drink. It almost didn't taste like alcohol (all that sugar!). Fair warning: It was very ginger-y. Now, I really like ginger, so this was fine by me, but I could tell that my other taste-testers were less than thrilled. We used ginger beer, as directed in the recipe, but I think using ginger ale might tone down the spice, if you wanted to mute it a bit.
Isn't it pretty?! I'm serving these at a party on Friday and I can't wait to line them all up in a row. If you're still searching for a festive cocktail, this is a pretty good one to try.
Ingredients
- 1 ounce vanilla vodka
- 1 ounce hazelnut-flavored liqueur (recommended: Frangelico)
- 1/2 ounce butterscotch schnapps
- Ice cubes
- 4 ounces ginger beer (recommended: Reed's Ginger Brew)
- Dark rum
Directions
Pour the vanilla vodka, hazelnut liqueur, and butterscotch schnapps into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well. Strain into high ball glass or any 8-ounce glass filled with ice. Top with ginger beer. Pour a little dark rum over the back of a spoon and float on top of the ginger beer. Garnish with a gingerbread man cookie.
