I recently had to travel to Cincinnati for work. I knew from previous trips that a Graeter's Ice Cream Shop was a must-visit.
Graeter's makes rich, creamy ice cream in small batches. But the thing that sets their ice cream apart is their various chip flavors. Basically, while the ice cream is churning they pour melted chocolate into the ice cream. The result is delightfully irregular chunks of excellent chocolate. Black Raspberry chip (pictured above) is their signature flavor. I am not normally a fruit ice cream person, but that combination of black raspberry and chocolate is pretty stunning. They also have flavors like mint chip, chocolate coconut almond chip, and peanut butter chip.
Graeter's has locations scattered around Ohio and Kentucky, but, according to their website, some supermarkets like Kroger and Ralph's have started carrying Graeter's. So keep an eye out if you frequent those stores. I'm actually contemplating shipping some to my parents' house in Northern California for the holidays, even though it's kind of pricey ($60-$80 to ship six pints). Any of you have a favorite Graeter's flavor?

Definitely mocha chip. Although Elena's Blueberry Pie comes in a close second.

I had Graeter's when I went to Columbus for work and quite honestly, it was life-changing ice cream. I had coconut with dark chocolate chips, and I still dream about it. YUM.

I am very much in favor of the Christmas shipment to California! I'm going to have to start looking for it at Ralph's.

Oh, I love Graeter's! I have been to Cincinnati twice in the last month & their featured flavor was chocolate malt. YUM. Normally I get mocha chip or peanut butter chip. Or black raspberry chip. Pretty much anything with chips.

I found Graeter's tonight at my local Ralph's in San Diego - so exciting! They had about 8 different flavors, including a bunch of chip varieties. I came home with a pint of mint chip. This is going to be very dangerous.
