So, we went to Hawaii, and you guys had the BEST food and drink recommendations ever. Can I get a what-what for the Food Lush family and readers?! I've never eaten so well in my life.
While we ate our way through the islands, we also discovered a hidden gem! Kauai Coffee Company is actually a working coffee plantation (on Kauai, obvs) and it is a really fun place to wander around.
They have a little educational walk through the plantation (I love educational walks!) a museum, and an incredible selection of coffees, all brewed and ready for the tasting.
After selflessly tasting as many coffees as we could possibly stomach, we found a couple of winners.
First, Vanilla Macadamia Nut. This coffee just tastes like Hawaii. Seriously, it's a hot, steaming, tropical mug of heaven. I usually don't like flavored coffees because they tend to taste a bit like scented hand sanitizer. (Weird? Maybe. True? Yes.) This flavor tastes like a really good cup of coffee with touch of vanilla and fresh macadamia nuts stirred in, which is exactly how good flavored coffee SHOULD taste. (Not like hand sanitizer.)
Second, is the 100% Kauai Coffee Medium Roast. I know that sounds ridiculously boring, and there are all these other flavors out there, but the real deal medium roast is honestly one of the best coffees we tried. (We liked it so much we bought a three-lb. bag ... come over and try some!) It's full and nutty and rich and just plain tasty. If you like coffee, you will like this roast.
The best thing about our finding is that you can buy these coffees stateside! Although it's a little pricey to get Kauai Coffee shipped, it's less than a plane ticket, so I'll probably buy some next time I'm yearning for a vacay.
If you're going to Kauai, however, you have to stop in to the Kauai Coffee Company Plantation. It's a great way to spend an afternoon and insure you get well-caffienated for all your vacation fun.
