I am currently obsessed with the idea of using mason jars for, oh, everything. I want to serve tea out of them. I want to store spices and dry ingredients in them. I want to use them as vases and put them on my dinner table. It's amazing how something as simple as this:
can be easily transformed into something adorable:
The possibilities are endless! You can put chili in the bottom of a jar, then pour cornbread batter on top of it, pop it into the oven until the cornbread's done, then seal it up to bring to a picnic. You can bake individual peach cobblers in jars. Stack the dry ingredients for your favorite soup or cookie recipe, add a festive bit of cloth and a recipe card to the top of the jar and TADA! you've got a great (very inexpensive) gift.
Or do this:
Mason jar cupcakes! Just think of all the gooey, yummy frosting you could cram into a jar!
I'm planning to pick up a couple dozen mason jars next time I go shopping, but if anyone's looking for a gift idea for me, get me this:
Every home, especially southern ones, should have a mason jar drink dispenser, don't you think?
