While I'm certainly not one to turn down a chocolate treat, other than my beloved frozen Chocolate Chips, I tend not to have the stereotypical female CHOCOLATE! LOVER! response to uh, chocolate.
However, I have met my match in my latest dessert craving, Haagen Dazs Chocolate Sorbet.
I picked up a pint a few weeks ago at Central Market. And I have been picking up a pint on my weekly grocery store run ever since. I have always loved chocolate ice cream, but ice cream doesn't really tend to love me (hooray lactose, well not quite intolerance, more like only minimal acceptance -- meaning I can only have a few bites or its tum trubs city). Sorbet, however, seems to get along just swimmingly with my fickle tummy. This sorbet has the perfect light texture, and tastes EXACTLY like my semi-foe, chocolate ice cream.
Not only is it digestively friendly, but it is practically fat-free and relatively low in calories (130 calories per serving). This makes me very happy. And the perfect topper? Frozen chocolate chips, obviously. I'm so glad I made this new friend just in time for summer.
And if you are looking for another REALLY low-calorie treat for summer, allow me to introduce you to Crystal Light Sno Cones!
Simply take some ice from the fridge, pulse it a few times in a food processor, and then add your favorite Crystal Light to the top as a flavoring (I prefer fruit punch!). Simple and so flavorful.
What are your favorite hot weather cool down treats?

Well THIS post changed my life a little! I AM lactose intolerant. Have not tried this sorbet! I'll be picking some up next time I'm out. :) I like Edy's frozen fruit bars a lot, as well as Ciao Bella coconut or blood orange sorbet. Also, frozen chocolate chips? Are the best idea EVER. (Forgive my frequent use of all caps, won't you?)
