When my husband and I went to London for Valentine's Day, I took Holly's advice to heart and made sure to note Pret A Manger as a viable breakfast/lunch option for us. I also plugged our hotel address into google maps on my phone and searched for nearby locations, we had 5 within a small radius of our hotel and one that was two doors away, breakfast/lunch covered!
Of course on our first day in London, we decided to purchase an all day tube pass which meant that we weren't close to our hotel at all and instead were over by Hyde Park and Harrod's. Luckily, we were still able to locate a nearby location and grab a picnic lunch to take with us to the park. It was LOVELY. I can't say enough about how great the food was or how very much I miss it since we have been home (seriously, I whinge, also about the cider I now love and can't get here either but I digress). The sandwiches are super fresh and hot (if you grab something from the hot case) and the fruit was perfectly ripe and tasty no matter which location we happened to frequent. Plus, the selection was amazing. Honestly, you would never want for something to fit your mood/palette. For lunch, I fell in love with the Sweet Potato Falafel Wrap and the Superfruit Bowl (mango, blueberries, orange segments and pomegranate seeds) with the Croxton Manor and Red Onion Crisps. For breakfast, the porridge was perfect on a rainy and cold morning.
We ate there for lunch all three days and even if we didn't always picnic, but just took it back to our room for a break, I loved the convenience of just popping in and taking away food that I enjoyed eating and wasn't heinously bad for me.

I LOVE Pret A Manger. There are a few in NYC, but they aren't nearly as delish as London's.

I did a short study abroad program in London and ate at Pret all the time. They now have a couple in DC, and while they aren't quite as good as the ones in London, I still think they are the best fast-food sandwich option around by far. (Especially since they have so many great veggie options!)

Pret is my London fave! Lived there for a year and it became my go-to quick lunch place. Thanks for bringing back some memories for me...

I was so happy when Pret came to DC (even if it is inferior to the British original). Every sandwich I've tried has been awesome. They also have a great elderflower grape spritzer soft drink that I am in love with: not too sweet and super-refreshing.
