One of the hardest things for me to give up when I’m dieting is rich and creamy dairy products. I love cheese. I love butter. I love ice cream. Hell, if it were socially acceptable (and wouldn’t put me on the fast track to an early demise), I’d eat my cereal with heavy cream. For a very short time, my favorite drink to order at Starbucks was a breve vanilla latte. Do you know what breve means? I sure don’t, but what I do know is, asking for that drink meant I’d get a latte made with STEAMED HALF ‘N HALF. Knowing myself (and my family history of heart disease), I had to give those up right away.
Recently, I was lamenting my displeasure for fat-free dairy products to a co-worker in the office kitchen, how I’d much rather drink my coffee black then use a non-fat creamer, when this particular co-worker said two words that, no joke, were an instant game changer: coconut milk. As in, had I tried So Delicious’ Coconut Milk Creamer? But, isn’t coconut milk naturally fattening, like avocados? I wondered. I was confused, but immediately intrigued at the prospect of a dairy- and soy-free creamer that’s actually … creamy. Imagine that!
So, the next time I found myself at a Whole Foods, I picked up the French Vanilla flavor and promptly tried it with my afternoon decaf chai. It was amazing. Silky smooth, just enough sweetness, and of course, the requisite creaminess I prefer in my tea (and coffee, I discovered the next morning when I tried it again).
Here’s the clincher, though: IT IS FAT-FREE. There are only 20 calories per serving. My food scientist husband does not believe this product is real.
Oh, but it is. There are many other coconut milk products in the So Delicious line, such as yogurt and ice cream sandwiches -- and all are dairy-free. (Note: not all of the coconut milk products are fat-free, however.) Just for kicks, I also tried the Purely Decadent Made with Coconut Milk Cookie Dough “ice cream,” and hoo boy, if I weren’t dieting, I’d have eaten the whole pint.

So Delicious creamer makes everything creamy, rich, and satisfying. It feels like a guilty pleasure, but it's totally guilt-free!
