This summer I did quite a bit of traveling (mostly for work) but I did get to unexpectedly travel to Portland to visit Cherie, a writer for Food Lush and the designer behind both this site and Style Lush. She's a longtime friend and fellow food (and booze!) lover, so while visiting we did a lot of really good eating.
One night we stopped in The Farm, a restaurant Ted Allen recommended on The Best Thing I Ever Ate. He was specifically recommending the veggie burger, which we didn't try, but we did try something so fabulous, I've thought about it far more often than I care to admit: the hummus plate.
Admittedly, before that, I hadn't been a big hummus eater. Nothing against the stuff, just not something I tended to crave on a regular basis. But now? I eat hummus at least once a night as my main dinner dish. I'll order it out at restaurants more than I ever did before.
And while there's not a single serving of hummus I've tried since that lives up to The Farm's, it was a great way to introduce me to a dish I rarely thought about before.
All that's to say, if you're in the Portland area, hightail it over to The Farm. Sit on the patio and dig in.

Don't forget about the baked brie! And it appears they took the gnocchi off the menu, I was dying to go back and try that. My favorite thing that night is still our custom made cocktails at the Jupiter. I tried to get that same level of service from a waitress on a packed Saturday night but she was not as charm-able.

I LURVE hummus. I don't even care that it makes my breath stink. my favorite things to dip: cherry tomatoes, pita chips, cheese, and my fingers.
