This was not an easy task, my friends, because you see it's hard to make a main course "Halloweeny." Especially when the budget is tight because you've already thrown down money for costumes and Halloween candy. Did I mention the Halloween candy? Sheesh, I have yet to find a place selling candy -- candy you are going to pass out to absolute strangers -- for a reasonable price. I digress.
Where were we? Ah yes, Mummy Dogs! In planning for our party this weekend I went to my handy dandy cookbook, Google, and found these on Southern Living.

Inspired by Elissa's Dinnertime Desperation I headed out to Trader Joe's for this week's grocery shopping. I decided to class up the recipe a bit by using their fresh pizza dough instead of the refrigerated bread-stick dough, Brats (a favorite of the hubs), chicken Sicilian sausage (thought it would pair nicely with the garlic and herb dough) and uncured all-beef dogs for the kids. And it wouldn't be the same without the ketchup dip with mustard spider web but how easy is that!?!
Icing on the cake? This week I started acupuncture which I am inclined to think began aligning my chi already because after grocery shopping I had to run into Dollar Tree for fake eye lashes for my costume (I mention this because did you know? Fake eye lashes at the dollar store: $1, fake eyelashes everywhere else: at least $5!) Anyway, while I was there look, what I found!

I love the mummy hot dogs and the ketchup and mustard spider web! Will have to file this idea away for future Halloweens . . .
